It comes as no surprise that our SGNA members get acknowledged for all of their hard work. Recently, Michele Rubin, MSN APN CNS-BS CGRN, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Colorectal Surgery, University of Chicago Medicine, was recognized by Nurse.com as one of five nurses who received a 2016 National GEM Award.
The GEM (Giving Excellence Meaning) Awards are presented annually by Nurse.com, the largest print and digital magazine dedicated to registered nurses. In a statement, Eileen Williamson, MSN RN, senior vice president and chief nursing executive for Nurse.com, said “Our winners are some of nursing’s best and brightest and we’re privileged to celebrate them.”
Further, Eileen commented specifically on Michele by saying, “She is proud of the difference she makes in her patients’ lives. Michele helped establish the only nurse practitioner-operated J-Pouch clinic in Chicago. She is a widely published author who has been a longtime member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America’s Chicago chapter.”
